Double header concert with Grace & the Magic Roots and notional album launch for my Out Of The Blue album. Fab to see some chums there on a Tues night, especially as my Criterion solo gog was only last week. We ran it like the Songs Of Wonder gigs - 30min sets from me, then Grace &TMR, then a breal, then another set from them, then final one from me, then a song and improvisation together. We also played on 2 of eachother's songs in the changeovers. I chose to play a lot of songs from the new album and some I'd not played live before. PLus I sang Storyteller for the first time in 19 years - It just came into my head lately and demanded to be sung.
Grace & the Magic Roots were amazing as always - something magical about them - a bit folk, reggae, prog with acoustic guitar & cello plus we had Tim "Dr Glock" Sketchley on glockenspiel who played with them and me. It was fun hearing the overlap in our musics.
They joined me on The Wishing Tree (Grace had learned the fiddle part :-) ) - and Science Fiction Eyes at her request. We also had the spontaneous return of a stage 3 Headed Girl - with Mary-Anne Ratcliffe from Mia & The Moon grabbing Grace and Ann to play the role :-)
Plus we had a fab improvisation at the end - vlow whistle, piano, vocals, guitar, violin, low recorder, glockenspiel, cello - - very special.
