Gosh I’m glad to have done the gig yesterday as it had been on my mind for a while with lots of worry factors - 1st solo piano gig in a while,
- a bit of a drive 90mins each way.
- teepee/outdoor venue - always tricky for music
- 1st playing down the aisle in years.
- playing aisle song I didn’t know accompanying a singer friend of the couple.
But I did my homework, got there super early, brought big & small PAs - luckily small amp was enough. Playing piano standing up using supplied stand and in the sun was awkward but I managed it ok. Towards the end of the 2nd dinner set I was getting some applause which was nice.
Realised I’d not driven any distance on my own for a while (I’m usually driving bandmates to gigs). Forgot how close you get to the in-car music on your own. At journey’s end I always feel grateful to the artists on the CDs for seeing me home safe.
So it all went fine, but I’m glad it’s done and I’m not worrying about it anymore :-)
