Quite a mellow day until 5pm when on listening to one of the copies of the master CD I had already sent to the manufacturer, I found a cut-off fade out on one track, then on several, then on both album masters. Of course today is a bank holiday so could not ring them to tell them not to go ahead until I send them new masters. I left messages which HOPE bigtime they will ring me saying it's not too late to send them new masters.
Did some hasty remodelling of the fade outs then had to dash to my gig in Oakham Grainstore with Dan. Was in a bit of a fizz. Luckily Lisa Stansfield calmed me down in the car on the way there as she often can.
The GKs were at the gig which was nice as they werent at Harmuni2. Had some nice laughs with them b4 the gig.
The gig was fine - solid and energetic - noisy bar atmosphere rather prevents much art but we did a solid set with a few more crowd pleasers than usual. We sold 2 CDs which is nice. Playing with Dan is the best.
Dashed home and just now reworked the fade outs again - twice in fact. Re-burned the masters and stuck them in the post.
PHEEEW!
If it's not too late then I've saved the day - I HATE snatched fade outs - if the completed CDs had come back like that I would've probably killed myself or worse!!!
The problem, on investigation, I found wasn't on tracks that had been remastered at my studio - rather the crap fades were all ones I hadn't touched from the mastering at the posh studio. I'd been so pleased with the sound i hadn't double checked the endings. Doh!
Why is it always like this with CD production?!
Anyhow I can do nothing more now except await a call in the morning or make one myself.
Meeting with kathak dancer Nilima Devi and a visual artist tomorrow at 1pm - I could do without it really. I'm working with her in the new year on one of her dance presentations...Its still pretty vague and with luck I seemed to've minimised my role to sounds rather than structures...
Better hit some hay
