Drive to London went fine - picked up Linda and arrived for get in at Sth Bank - always a bit of a faff with barriers, elevators, parking, finding food, set up etc...
We then had a 3 hour rehearsal after the lengthy soundcheck which did not go well... I guess the sound was weird to us on the big stage, empty hall, plus we still weren't too familiar with the arrangements. We quit , tired and a bit glum to rush to find a quick sandwich at the Royal Festival Hall - dashing back to get ready to go on.
Jazz Orient was the first set - Baluji's piece for sitar & orchestra "An Indian In London" was 2nd set...
Against all our expectations the Jazz Orient set went really well. The sound was great, my theremin solo sent fine and any stitches we dropped were not discernable from the audience point of view. The Improvisation went well and I even snuck in my bombarde :-) Photos coming via third party sometime...
Setlist - Dangerous Ground, Brave Boy, Child Of The Emerald Air*, Portrait Of A Swan, I Am A Note, Tides, Vanita's Dance*, Improvisation, Boss Me Around, Rendezvous With Rama*
*my compositions
Unfortunately G was going to come down on the train to see the show after her choir gig, but train stopped, then the power lines went down on the tube, so she gave up and went on to my brother's house where we were staying. :-(
I drove thru Camden on a Sat night at pub closing and it was a very long stretch of Sodom & Gomorrah - saw a couple trying to walk while desperately and gingerly holding eachother up...
