So - after cancelling 6 gigs - 4 Govannen, 1 solo, 1 jazz duo, I turned a corner and styarted to get better. Still gonn have a cough for quite a while. Dtermined to do little song slot tomorrow to get in the swing of things, even if I have to cough my way thru it.

I have returned to watching the Lexx series from the beginning for the forst time in over 10 years. Kinda went with the fevery partys of the lurgy quite well. An odd series - sometimes brilliant, often silly - in "going for it" they inevitably cant get it all right but you admire them for doing it - not always a comfortable watch tho, especially in company. Takes you there though - esp the 2nd series.

Had  anice delivery of CDs I ordered while poorly - especially the new Circus Maximus & Delain albums - only problem way I wasn't really ina  rock mood while under the lurgy.

Maryn Mkrtchyan - Siro Molorak
Armenian soul. I kept playing his stuff online and fancied the album. He aint an oil painting but I just like his voice. The chords and production are souly - like late Barry White, upbeat numbers like the Gypsy Kings, the occsional folk tinge but it's mostly electro. Perhaps a bit long but there are gems in there. Circus Maximus - Nine
Prog metal. It's been 5 years since their last which I played to death. The new one is a damn fine album - clever too. so many albums these days are just built to tour and that's it. "This is our new openeing, this is our new big anthem, this is our headbanger etc..." Some albums are like an album of hit singles. But Nine has been crafted with light and shade, intervals, and things that wont be possible live. It's a whole album and it feels bigger and deeper as a result. Delain - We Are The Others
Symphonic metal. I loved their last one so trhe new one had a lot to live up to. It's mostly all about Charlotte Wessels voice which is great. Many great tracks - a bit samey overall - coulda done with a ballad. Each track could be a single - and is BIG - every track is BIG. http://youtu.be/mbXE6OtyCoI
