Question for the hive mind. Star Trek TOS - the remastered DVDs - what's the verdict? -
a) great - Trek looks the best it's ever done - or -
b) stick to original - can't be doing with new cgi effects - I miss the fuzzy looking planets & fx. - or
c) don't fret there really isn't a lot of difference in quality or fx

I don't think I've seen the remastered DVDs. I'd say (c). It would be nice to look at them, but in the end the show worked the way it was made and doesn't need extra gilding.

I like the look of them. They were on Netflix streaming and I watched several of them. I think they did the CGI tastefully.

I kind of feel about a added-CGI Star Trek the same way I feel about colorized movies: keep both the original and the colorized versions available and I'll be happy.

Part of the charm about the original Star Trek is is campy (by today's standards) effects and visuals.

We've now watched the new version with the boys and the colors are brighter, the contrast has been picked up some, the planet-scapes are waaaay more beautiful than they were before, and it still (to us) retained all the flavor of the original series. They restored and enhanced with a respectful hand, I'd say.
And hey, *hugs*.
