A couple of days were spent on website update and e-newsletter writing and sending which always takes longer than i think it is going to.
Thursday
In evening I had a rehearsal/trial of a new group line-up - electronic quartet with jim Tetlow who i have been working ina duo with, plus Christina on bass and james on Kaoss Pads. I got to studio at Quad a little late and was abit flustered plugging in the way too much equipment I brought - theremin kit & fx, keyboard and electric 9string guitar & fx.
Well in some ways it didnlt sound as I thought it would, and in others it sounded like an enhanced version of what Jim & I do (either spooky wafty or minimal systemics) . Tried a few rhythmic ideas out which weren;t going to happen as I heard them in my head. Interestingly, like Jim and I - it all sounded best when we improvised - attempts at semi-composing were clunky. Just heard the recording back and was very surprised how posh it all sounded. At the end of the session for fun I took my camera and shot some band photos against some industrial backdrop that after touching up looked surprisingly good. At the moment we are called The Bridge or maybe just Bridge.
Fri
I pulled out of my 30min slot at Linford Song Club to rest my voice - it was much improved but with paid gig on Sunday i didnlt want to push it - Went for dinner at the huge Feast India then on o an early music concert - ZHL string quartet - pieces were a bit chocolate boxy but they were fun and towards the end danced about as they played including the cellist with a nifty foam extender to his bass peg meanign he could hang the cello from his neck whilst jigging around - why haven't i seen cellists do this before?
