If you are into sunny days in a beautiful English countryside village, then Sunday at Allexton would be idyllic. I played 2 jazz songs Straighten Up & Fly Right and Girl From Ipanema with the Leicestershire Chorale (a choir G sings in) at the end of their fundraising dinner concert in the church. Went without any misshaps - the arrangements were very short, just a couple of mins each and I had only a solo in one piece. So I was surprised at how many people came up to me at the end and int he following dinner raving about my jazz piano playing. I felt I;d hardly played at all.
Dinner followed, luckily with an entertaining collection of people at our table. Unfortunately for me it was outdoors which I am not a huge fan of - hay fever and all. Got a bit chilly by 10.30pm too. Still it all went well which is good.
