Songs Of Wonder 2 - at The Musician

Songs Of Wonder 2 was, like 1, a split songs gig with me and sister duo Mia and the Moon - Laura & Mary-Anne Ratcliffe - this time with special guest my old chum Vikki Clayton. MatM also brought cajon player Sam Winterton along. Same format as last time - I did a 30 min set, then MatM did, then a break, then MatM did another 30min set, and then I did the last set (with Vikki joining me) - then MatM and Vikki joined me on Three Headed Girl and an improvisation. It was soundman Malc's birthday too.
We had a big listening crowd and the fact that MatM tend to do ballads, meant I could break out from my usual set and songs. I did 2 new songs and quite a few I hardly ever do - including Letters In Time - on the piano - which is tricky and I'd only rehearsed up that afternoon. I also joined Mia and the Moon on a couple of their songs on low whistle and harmonies, pretty much on the fly as I don't know their songs so well.

I was more relaxed this time around because we had done the format before. Mia and the Moon are nicely laid back in performance and that suits me too. They had filled the place with incense which gave me an idea to start and end the night chanting 3 "Om"s with the audience.  It was great playing with Vikki Clayton too - it had been a very long time since we last played. The night ended with a long rambling improvisation with everyone which was fun to get out of songs mode.
All in all it was a really successful night and we got lots of lovely comments. :-)
