Made an evening of it to see Lisa Stansfield in Birmingham with G. Had a meal at Strada.

Then as had time to kill before concert we wnt round the new Birmingham library which was a mazing. Huge, futuristic interiro with blue neon liut travelators & excalators and glass elevator. Cool 60s spherical Prisoner, Number 2 chairs, and on floor 9 a Secret Garden with views over Brum. Quite a thing. Felt very civilised that so much had been spent on a new library.

Then on to the gig at Symphony Hall. Opening band blew us a away - Mamas Gun - soul, funky and tight. lead singer had such a likeness to Marvin Gaye here & there and hwn he sang soft he was like Smokey Robinson. Clever arrangements, nice vocal harmonies. I LOVED this song - Find A Way http://youtu.be/0mgDzzaL5pE - picked up their first album with it on and got it signbed :-)

Then Lisa Stansfield - usual 9 piece band. Great - we were quite a long way up in the gods but the sound was still pretty good. She played some new ones and old favourites. Her voice gets really low in some places - she's usually singing in my range a lot of the time. Still got it tho...  Cant believe the last time I saw her was over 10 years ago...
