So I acted on my desire to get out more and see "real people" in gatherings as I went to Kirky's open mic night at Scraptoft. LOTS of players and about 40 listening. I got there at 8.30pm and got to play at 11.15pm. I sang Lifespell and was requested to play Superheroes Never Die (which I had planned to play anyway, but it was nice to be asked.

Was glad I did it, and needed the practise songswise as it has been a while since Simon Says Fest in July, but was not very good social practise as everyone listens so quietly and talking is not possible. I also struggled listening to 14 singer-songwriters, each doing 2 songs each. I think the truth is I dont listen to that much singer-songwriter music at home, so it was  abit like going to see a long show of a genre I dont follow much - like a 3 hour lute concert. I was such a fidget - had to go to other bar for crisps, loo, anything to get a break, which of course makes you feel guilty for not listening to others. I'll give another open mic a go, but maybe a smaller one.
It was nice to see Kirky & Lou & Tanya. Steve Parker and Steve Cartwright were sheer class though and he had a nice chat at the end, and I drove Parker home.
