So the 3rd gig in this run was last night at a wedding ceilidh at a golf club near Crewe. Driving at rush hour on bank holiday Friday made a 90min drive into a 3 hour drive. Didn't have to play all that much as they were late with the meal. Again lots of Scottish folks and kilts. Had been a bit tired headachey all day. Hard to find time to eat leaving at 4pm. Deli, Roger and I left leaving Dan and an Neil to run the disco PA. Got home again at 1.30am and bed at 3am again.
So - 5 hours driving, 2 hours playing, 2 hours setup/pack down and hanging around.
I did do some park gym excersize wise earlier but did little else.
Tonight is another wedding gig near Kettering. Earlier finish tho...
When there is a run of gigs the mind goes into a trance state - the getting together of kit, choosing car music, setting the satnav, picking up bandmates, the road, the music, the arrival, unloading, setting up, the hanging around, the playing, the packing kit, and drive home.... Strange way to make a living...
Just realised...
Glass half empty - the money from all these gigs will be swallowed up by my car insurance
Glass half full - good thing I had the gigs...
Started reading Robert Charles Wilson's "Burning Paradise" - nice to read a familiar author again. A safe pair of hands...
Hopefully finish mastering the Memory Wire Fingerprints album today...
