3 gigs in 24 hours over the weekend - woosh!
Fr 14th - Donnington Park Hotel
Nice mellow gig and ceilidh. Unusual things were a guy displaying Native American flutes he made and another guy said he'd make us a native drum. Comedy moment as Dan was inspecting a wooden tankard the groom had made - upturned it, not realising it had beer in it. Just missed the groom splaching his shoes... coulda been worse...
Really stramge thing for me, although we have played here before with Govannen - I didnlt then and didnlt this time til I was told realise that it was the same venue as Off the Tracks Festival I played some 15 years earlier once with Dan & once with The Talking Fish.
Sat 15th - Melton Beer Festival
We played this last year. It went even better for us this time - a better place in the room, and more people, plus we sold 13 CDs :-) - Nice to see old chums and Gov family there. Had a nice chat with Jo and her new fella looking happy. :-) Then quick eat and off 90 mind drive to..
Sat 15th eve - Whitworth Centre, Matlock
Upstairs get in but nice jolly people. Young bride & groom and friends and jeepers did they dance - not only the few ceilidh numbers but they bopped endlessly to fast pop we played - we kept expecting them to lull and tire but they didnlt. We had to do a couple of requests that Dan knew and we busked including a Mumford & Sons song I;d never heard before.
Sunday - I wasn't up to much - very tired - did website nerdy stuff, watched a DS9 & a Lexx in the evening (only 3 left)
Jealous of G as while she was in Banff she noticed by chance that Buffy Sainte-Marie was playing there that night!
