May. 25th, 2010 01:11 amFri
Middlethorpe Grange - a charity ceilidh in aid of http://www.sendacow.org.uk/ - a big do - 200+ - made for quite unweidly numbers of people dancing - but with caller Maca's skill it all went fine - late start tho and late finish and longish journey - - got home 2.30am - bed at 3.30amj after unloading and zoning out.

A return - our first of the year to Joules Yard - it had been a hriibly sunny day and a balmy evening for the concert so we were outside - we were all a bit knackered after the late finish of previous night's gig - especially Dan with his kids and rock school in the day. All went well, tho I;d've reather steered the set to posher, less crowdpleasing material coz we don't often have the chance to play to a listening crowd - tiredness prevailed and we went for an easy life. Sold 2 CDs :-)
Came home and unwound by finishing the last episode of season 6 of my soap - Star Trek Voyager - I;ve been slowly working my way thru these for years - and now - just one series left...
Finished too the EP Thompson book The Sykaos Papers - quite an amazing sci-fi book - very English, funny, and moving - quite a meandering book - but moments of briliance - really should be better known - but Thompson was not a sci-fi writer , but a well known Marxist historian - si there's lots of satire here & there. Here's a review
Amazon has lots of 2ndhand copies for under a pound here
Sunday
I really don't like sunny weather so I mostly kept out of it til sundown. Started new book Jack McDevitts Cauldron - the last in the Hutchins series. In evening went for a stroll and ate at Poppadoms Indian restaurant which was great.
