brighter / Shanghai Express
Mar. 7th, 2009 01:31 amDave Kirk popped round for a chat - poor gentle soul was a bit frightened by the loud bits of the Within Temptation video I showed him.
Still been feelin a bit blue/grey so I decided to map the rest of the day to be nicer to myself. I did some recording - pretty much finishing a backing track for Bridget and writing a nice little jig at the end of it which I recorded with 3 whistles in harmony. Felt good.
Had a nap. Bought an ipod touch I'd promised self for a while now - wanted a wi-fi toy for trips - and sounds of course. Haven't done anything with it yet - I have to discover new toys in my own time, Sad I know - I'm the kind of kid who kept their trick or treat candy for months til it had gone rotten.
Then G & I went to sushi bar - then I watched the wonderful Shanghai Express (1932 Marlene Dietrich dir Josef von Sternberg) - great film - mysterious set of people getting on a train to Shanghai - also nice surprise Warner Oland (the 1st Charlie Chan) was in it - odd to see him as a baddie. Magical lighting in the film here and there, especially on Marlene. The leading man was a bit of a plank, but Anna May Wong was genuinely creepy. Quite a gripper in places too.
