Had trouble getting down to anything other than admin. Then news of Dave's death knocked the stuffing out of me really. That and news of so many other chums with very heavy health issues.
EVENTUALLY I dragged myself into starting to record a track for Bridget - got quite far, tempo, and rhythm track chosen and song mapped out in midi and piano part recorded.
In the evening I took the rare step these days of going to the Freestyle jam session as Ola a Quadelectronic frid of mine had a feature set there. I havn't been to one of these now - in fact they've changed venues 3 times since I went. I rounded up Tiny & Andy G to come and sure enough quite a few old muzos were there - JButler, Overon, Kenny Wilson, Joel. Plus a nice core of Quadelectronic people were there - in fact I was rather torn between the 2 groups - the old'uns wanting a quiet chat at the back and the Q lot wanting to catch all of Ola's set. So I hovvered. Ola was great - nice to hear her not doing weird stuff. Dave the Drums is still awesome I must say.
I'm so out of practise at busy social situations now that I find that I hav odd feelings I'm not doing it right instead of jusr "being". Also talking over a noisy crowd totally fecks my voice in no time. Still I felt a lot better to blow some cobwebs away and even had a little keyboard jam was tempted to go up and scat but never found the right window. Will go again and try and redevelop my social sea legs. Getting out more was part of my new years resolutions anyhow.
This morning I feel a bit grey and with throat still sore - how did I ever used to do this *and* drink alcohol?
