Running Horse / Barack thoughts
Jan. 20th, 2009 11:58 amSunday was atrip back in time to The Running Horse, Nottingham, playing in Dan Britton's band - we used to play there 10 years ago at least - haven't been back since. Also back then chums Sindy, Kindy & Fred used to come see us and there they were again, looking unaltered by time. The band was Dan, self and Neil the Bass - we wnet on first - repetoire was Dan's songs old and new plus my Carousel - we were the 1st band of three. All went well apart from lack of reverb on the PA which is a shame for tin whistlists.
We then caught up with the chums and watched the other bands. The venue had shrunk in my memory - funny how that always happens.
Was very tired when got home tho. Yesterday was spent just installing software and website work whilst doing so.
Quadelectronic 8 tonight - I think we'll have a lot of players - I think it;s significant that Obama chose a Quadelectronic day to be inaugurated - I think we can expect more improvised electronic music from this president compared to the last.
I wish him well tho few people in history have set themselves up so well for an assasination. Bright as he is I also have a supicion that Putin could have him for breakfast. Mind you , as long as the west rely on Russian oil they can more or less march into Georgia or wherever they like and no-one's gonna do athing about it. And with China funding a lot of the American national debt he may well be asked to oversee America's eclipse by China as leading world power.
Had to give up on Alex Besher's Mir - clunky self-concious writing - I quite liked his 1st one Rim but this did not take me past his style. Started Ian McDonald's Brasyl - much better.
I went thru and mastered the recording from the Donkey songs gig - not bad - soem of it could be used for a Live album - I'll just keep recording shows and see what i get. I got as bit pro-active and set up a couple more little local song gigs - plus a Govannen gig came in too.
