Went with Deli & Vikki to the Petula Clark gig. Surprisingly not so well attended - only 480 or so. The band was smaller scale than the one I saw last year which had London Philharmonic, so it was interesting to see how it was scaled down - 4 horns, 2 keys, bass, elec guitar, drums & percussion - backing singers were prerecorded. Soun d was not great and she had to stop one number due to feedback. However, this aide she was as remarkable as ever as we saw her dig in and  give everything she had. I was glad she played her new songs plus there was a new arrangment within a song of a medley of her 60s songs. The 2nd set had more small scale songs withher at the piano which worked well.
After the gig I came across her arranger and bandleader in the Marquis pub - I think he liked a drink as I had spoken to him in the bar at half time - so I bought him a pint and had a chat. Interesting to hear his view of touring etc. I gave him a CD.

The set up went quite easily - I was a little out of practise at putting my stuff together but after an hour of plugging in theremin synths * effects we were ready to record. I was going to try various different plans to arrange things but in the end we just jammed - 2 looong jams. Then we tried a few ideas out. Good news - at kast we have a good recording of John's drums. Bad news - early listen to the rushes seems to indicate that guitar man and I are in mono only... Will ring studio and se eif it was our error or theirs and see if it's fixable. We might have to put the whole thing down as a useful training session. Kinif ironic as alll our oter recodings have sumptuous synths & such with not great drum sound - tis time we have seperate drums channels, well recorded and ...mono synth & effects ... Doh!
We had a good time though. I hope some of it is useful.
