Govannen party gig - Normanton on Soar
Mar. 30th, 2008 11:39 amSpecial double birthday greetings to
ohiblather and
katyh
Both are stars in my sky and both have been heads of my 3 headed girl.
The Govannen gig for a 60th birthday went down well but involved me playing for hours as I;d agreed to play during dinner, on top of an arrival set with the band and the gig proper. So played a 45min Irish set, then rush thru to dining room to play there for a couple of hours piano jazz/crooning set then back with the band to do a dancing rock n roll set for about 90mins.
We knew the lady and everyone was nice and enthusiastic. But it meant setting up 2 keyboards and PAs too, so by the end of the night I was a bit hoarse and tired. It was quite fun tho.
The only downside being the supplied food to band which consisted of hastily thrown together sandwiches - it's funny but grated cheese on sliced white bread never really hits the spot.
Got home around 1.30am which truned into 2.30am with British Summer Time, and 3.30am to bed after undloading/unwinding.
