On the spur of the moment I joined G & S to go to an Early Music Festival concert - at Castle House - a C18th century building by the castle that one doesn't get to go into normally.
1st half - Music at the Time Of Richard III - 2 viol players mostly who also payed recorder and sang a little.
Interval - a surprise - a Quadelectronic chum of mine Simon Ferraby played a Dowland piece among others on the ukelele
2nd half - Music from the C18th - a family of 3 recorder players and a spinet played by the man who organises the concerts
Unusual staging as the musicians had to go in the entrance hallway, and the audience were in 2 rooms of the house - so you could kind of see them from where I was - well one of them. Nicely informal.
What was nice was it gave one a feel of what house concerts would've been like in the C18th.
