Memory Wire - electronic ambient duo with myself and Jim Tetlow - are rare so they feel pretty special when they come around. WEe had played at this session some months ago at Stamford Arts Centre but they had now moved from the downstairs bar to the art gallery which felt much more posh.
We had a slight panic when the PA supplied was making distorion noises... After trying many things, and with 5 mins to go, Bernard our host found a switch on the back and PRESTO! - it was fixed.
First on was looping guitar man Loop Cycle - very accomplished looping grooves. Then there was world music choir Vox Mondiale who were reduced by illness to a quartet but were great doing African, Bulgarian music etc really well.
Then us - we had done no special preparation and we chose to break no real new ground so we did some things we knew would work. We did a low whistle one, a theremin one, a brief bombarde one and a minimal/Terry Riley-esque one akin to the title track from our new album Parallel. It went really well and time floew by and the sound was great. All accomapnied by great visuals from VJ: Brendon Ward aka The Miracle Lens Visuals
