Switching to another music computer is always fun. But it's better when the old machine is still working. :)
I usually end up doing this when the old machine has died in a bad way. I have mirrored hard drives, so I grab one of them -- because one of them had better still be working! -- throw it in a carrier that lets me read it via USB, then plug that into the new machine and migrate all of the data.
Installing the programs is the tedious part. Especially when you discover that some key bit of hardware is no longer supported under Windows 7...
