Friday - drove down to Devon - not a bad run 5.5hours. met with Dan in Gt Torrington and ate in a pub there. Went on to his late grandmothers cottage. Sadly I got zero sleep - don't know why - the food, the journey? - took a sleeping pill at 5am... It kinda meant I was coping all weekend.
Saturday - off in the morning to Clovelly Herring Festival - a set there, then up the hill, a busking set on a pub balcony, then back down for another kinda soggy set, then straight off to set up for concert at Meddon Village Hall. Had a tactical nap in the car once set up which was vital. Slept in driver seat of Dan's car - had NO IDEA where I was when I woke up. Very good concert with great audience and we played more with fiddler Martin, who did an opening solo set. Then another bad sleep woke at 4 feeling unwell but it settled down.
Sunday - Dan said he had a meeting so we had to be out at 10 so there was no lazy morning but straight in the car to go home. Hit a 90min M5 motorway block... Then needed stops, then more slows - the 4.5hr projected journey took 8.5hours - - 9hrs really as stopped for dinner with 30mins to go as I was so tired.
The days and the gigs all went fine - it was the bad sleeps, food that didn't suit me and the bad drive home that knocked me out on my return.
Monday - up with the lark to drive to Sheffeld l for father in law's 85th Birthday tea - which was fine.
Had a ropey week thereafter getting my equilibrium back with all the bad sleeps, the travel and the nerves and the odd gig food.
