So I'm back from a few days break in Aldeburgh. My first holiday since the Liverpool trip last August.
I always find holidays difficult for many reasons - in fact I posted here at MUCH length about why to clarify my thoughts, but took it down now as it served it's purpose in writing it and makes me sound quite bats! Suffice to say, they make me twitchy and emotional. Slowing my brain down is a painful business...
So yes there was some of that as expected. But I saw the sea. Went to 2 classical concerts at Snape Maltings - 1 for strings and one for wind ensemble. Same 3 composers - Stravinsky, Britten and Strauss. None of whom are my thing to be honest - and I'll resist going on about why! - but I knew that before going, and it was at least some culture, they were well played and it's nice to hear live ensembles. Ok the Strauss especially did wind me up quite a bit! :-/
I had a nice quiet morning after one breakfast reading and listening to music. I took a stroll into the beach, and went to a cafe with my book. Had a country walk at Snape by the river.
Plus spent time with G and had meals out - we've been so busy lately and in different time zones so that was nice. - tho she had to put up with my twitches and emotional battles with holidays. I think we're both kind of resigned to that now. Plus I musnt give up trying. :-)
3 hr drives each way went smoothly, and much music got listened to - I'm so much better on long drives since I got the automatic!
Came home last night and watched Bollywood film Finding Fanny on DVD which I'd seen at the cinema and enjoyed all the more 2nd time. A quirky laid back road movie beautifully shot in Goa and of European length at 1hr35. (Bollywood films are usually 3+hrs.) They filmed Hindi & English versions. Mine was Hindi. Recommended and was a nice way to chill post journey.
