Recording x 2

No gigs for a week and a half means I have to give my brain something to do or bad things happen... So I started 2 collaborative album projects.

1. Jazz songs album with Jodi Krangle
Jodi has been talking about wanting to do an album of her singing jazz songs for many years - and here we are doing it. It's been great to be more regularly in touch lately, and sending files and 5 emails a day, it;s like when we wrote and recorded together 15 years ago. 7 tracks have been recorded so far so we are past half way...

2. New Age album with Mo Coulson.
Celtic harper and singer-songwriter Mo & I made an album for Paradise Music label on a theme close to her heart - Mermaids - her tunes and songs, and my long wafty ambient music. That went really well. Well we are doing one on a theme of Angels now - probably instrumental (she has no songs about angels) but lots of wafty harp and ethereal voices. I've started and recorded 5 long tracks of ambient music for Mo to add harp and voices to. We will meet up to record her next week.

Gigs stat up this from tomorrow (well, today now), and Govannen meet up again next week to finish an album we started last year...

So I survived the quiet spell, and my brain is doing fine...

Jazz duo - White Swan, Blyth

First gig in quite a while - Quite a trek - 90mins each way. Gig was a background music in a pub gig - took us a few numbers to realise it was a background gig, but when that became apparent then we could chill a bit. The pub had quite a few rtooms so not many diners could see us. Still, it was a good way to ease back in to gigging and get match fit - we were paid and fed well and were well looked after and we got some isolated applause from round the corner sometimes :-) .
Was very sleepy when I got home...  zzzzzzz
