Songs album finished...

I started this songs album around the 10th December when I had the lurgy and putting down guitar parts was all I was up for. I was a bit blue so I carried on as it was good distraction during xmas & new year. 3 songs had been basically recorded already and just needed finishing off.
Mixings, masterings, remixing hassles played out in their usual niggly way, and I did cover art and graphics quite quickly. To stop myself faffing with it anymore I uploaded it for digital distribution to Routenote. Today I sent the disc & art off to duplicators.

The songs I had to to hand came from diverse origins. In the end they included...
- my versions of 2 songs of mine that Vikki Clayton had sung and recorded.
- 4 new songs, 2 of which are bossas
- 5 songs from a file dating back 20 years. I've drawn on this file also for the Time Traveller album.
- 1 hybrid of a 20+year old song with new additions and music.
- 1 song left over from 2011's Time Traveller album sessions that I'd forgotten all about..
- an instrumental interlude...

Depite the different origins, dates and styles, somehow a similar vibe came though as I worked on the album. Reflective, yes, but with a glow to it. Looking back to find a better way forward.
There aren't any funny songs or space songs - my last album Deep Space Love more than covered that for a while. But funnily enough, when I finished recording the album I found I wasn't so blue anymore... :-)

I feel I can get on with 2015 now - need to book some song gigs - work out how to hype this album, catch up with paperwork and...tidy my studio - things just seem to land where I can easily put them down when I'm recording.
