4 gigs in 3 days...

This weekend was always going to be a challenge - especially with the tight chersted tickly cough left over from my lurgy.

Friday 3rd
Govannen @ Leicesteshire Wildlife Hospital benefit barn dance @ Countesthorpe Village Hall.
As usual a huge turnout for this regular event - perhaps a hundred people and all keen to dance, so it all went like clockwork for our caller. The crowd didn't respond much to witty banter or the occasional song. But they were dead keen on the dances so thats what we did :-)

Sat 4th
Govannen - wedding at Eastwell
I am never a fan of gigs in marquees, especially on a chiolly night. I also not a fan of gigs at farms. I also am not so fond of the countryside. Celidhs dont work so well on shiny wobbly plastic dace floors. This gig had all of these... Yet against the odds for me it went well. The people were nice and keen dancers and the 3 sets went by quite quickly, perhaps in comparison to the long sets the previous night.

Sun 5th
1. Jazz duo @ Barnsdale Hall Hotel
Back to jazz. An eerily quiet one. This is a relaxed gig really as we play in the room where people aren't. We can see the diners through the glass window but they only pass us ont heir way to the carvery or loo. We tried a few newish numbers...

2. Govannen - wedding @ Lutterworth Twon Hall
I got home with 30mins to spare for coffee and power nap then it was out to Lutterworth Town Hall. The bride, bless her, when asked if she was having a good day replied, "I've been drinking champagne since noon and am totally shitfaced!" Then another great conversation occured later.
Bride - it's cake cutting time. Not much of an event!
Me - sure it is!
Bride - I don't know - it looks really shit! I mean really shit...
Everyone was nice, though as it was a Sunday night things were low key so we just jollyed them along.
