Kontra Roots

So I did a 40minute set at the excellent Kontra Roots club in Finedon, Northants.
Also on the bill were old chum Paul McClure, who openedmixing his dry banter and country songs.
Thyen self - a little rusty again - not had a songs gig since end of July, so had to reaquaint self with guitar, and choosing songs nowadays is always tough - kept fiddling with setlist up to going on like a football manager who doesn't yet know his best team. The songs went well in themselves - I made it a retrospective with songs old and newish. Enjoyed singing "Islands" as that hasn't been out in a while... Overall I didnt feel quite on the money but that is usual after so long a break.

Then it was The Willows - excellent 5 piece folk group with very tight arrangements. i nearly supported them a while back, and my chum Mo Coulson is supporting them soon. It was great to watch a young band firing off eachother and the lasses 2 harmonies were spot on. They did some clever stops, and there was aeven a song with a bar of 5 in amongst the 6's.
