Our annual Xmas bash went well - it was a sell out! - 100 folks brought their picnics to the village hall. We had fun as a 5 piece - we played some from the Celtic Christmas album, Roger sang a couple, I sang Superheroes Never Die and the band who didnlt know it joined in :-) The 2nd set changed with many requests, mostly for the trad Irish songs.
I took a recording of the night and the current thinking is we'll gather all the Irish "gobshite" songs and some jigs & reels and make a bootleg pub songs album just to sell at pub gigs - we sometimes get asked for a recording of Wild Rover etc and we don't want to do them in a studio - plus there is the odd copyright song we'll never afford to do properly.
Some funny moments... Dan saying some lady gave him some Caxton Blue like it was a drug, when it was a cheese... And me building up my big Irish whistle feature with much chat...tension builds...and all that comes out is a tiny squeak...to much laughter and cries of "encore!"
