Got some fab CDs lately.
1. Joanie Sommers - Come Alive! - The Complete Columbia Recordings
Joanie is my fave jazz crooner and this has been the missing album that never came out on CD - til now!!! Joanie fans rejoice. Plus there are an album's worth of bonus tracks too!
And her version of Call Me!

2. Bob Lind - Finding You Again
I haven't bought a singer-songwriter album in years - Had to get Bob's forst studio album in 41 years. Arrived today - love it! _ I emailed Bob to tell him I loved it and he emailed me right back! :-D
Big lush chords, raggedy romantic balladeer with very rich evocative lyrics. The album ends with one of the saddest songs I've heard in ages - beautiful. made me think of my chum Robbie's passing and how the world still moves on - kind of... (a bit like forget about you)

Saddened to hear of the passing of Pete Johnson. I used to see a lot of Pete when sharing the house for many years with Clare, his daughter. He installed our kitchen over about 8 months ;-) - We used to go to the pub quiz in Belgrave and I'd see him a lot at gigs. He sang and played too - I'll always remember his version of Carrickfergus - really haunting version. He was a lovely man - I will miss him. Spoke to Clare tonight - she's about to have another baby any day now. Very sad.

So I had another dream this morning. Was playing a jazz gig. Supposedly the Cactus Cafe but it was quite a big country house. Nick Hislam was on sax and oddly bass player Simon Bramley was on keyboards. I was on low Irish whistle. Simon played a song with lots of key changes and I tried to keep up with half holing and thought I was doing a good job but the band stopped and Simon said it wasn't working out and they drifted off. I saw filker chum Rika in the audience. I went outside and Playing Rapunzel Marilisa and Michelle were playing in the garden. I went off to find Rika and tell her. Kept talking to people and felt bad that I should be playing the gig. Got back to the band area and found my kit had been packed away. I went to the manager who happily paid me. Just as I was feeling guilty about this, a customer came up as I was being paid and said he really enjoyed my playing and asked for a CD. I was confused - no one had realised that I hadn't played...
