Fun song gig at Criterion with great crowd - got some great comments. I just took guitar, theremin, flutes & kalimba. I was bold and sang many new songs from the forthcoming filk album in the first set, played some theremin & sang a song from my 1st song album from '95 I hadn't sung in years. Sold 4 CDs :-) It was quite a while since I'd sung a 2 x 45min song set and I was getting quite dizzy with all the singing. Funny in the 2nd half when i let my energy down I thought I was losing the corwd, then the minute I upped it with some oomph or a bit of schtick they came right back. I was also aware that I;d have to dash striaght off and drive to Staffordshire for a wedding gig. Felt good to try out the new songs even if I did need the lyric sheets
My set -
Set 1 - Science Fiction Eyes, Love Space Station, Burn The Heretic Fen, Vegetarian Vampire, Superheroes Never Die, Cad E Sin Ton Te Sin (low whistle), The Fish Song, Zonky Ponky, Call Me
Theremin interlude - Somewhere Over The Rainbow & Star Trek Theme
Set 2 - Tomorrow Lives Again, WishingTree, Lifespell, Wishful Thinking, Forget About You, Goin Out Of My Head, Wiccan Chicken (whistles), Alien Salad Abduction, Theremin interlude 2 Summertime & Avant Garde 5 seconds, Alien Jellyfish Song, Make Your Own Kind Of Music
Then straight off to drive to wedding gig in Staffordshire - really nice people. The bride and groom danced to the grooms own silly song about trout. Turns out he used to be ain a comedy band, and has written a sci-fi rock opera, knows a good sci-fi song band in Brmingham and has never heard of filk. We have arranged to swap CDs soon.
On way home M6 was closed - took some fancy work with the Satnav to get home at 1am... weary now tho...
