Piano gig at Daycare centre

Well that "morning jazz" gig I expected was a shock to the system - I thought it was gonna be background jazz piano for a buffet in a special school - In the end it was a mentally handicapped day centre - they got up and dancedand I was a one man disco party band!!! I played & sang as many upbeat jolly songs as I could think of for about an hour.
Gosh those care workers work hard... Funding cut closure in 2 years, then no respite at all for the families... :-(

This was adults with many kinds of severe mental disabilities. Was slightly unnerved to be told to keep a distance from one lass as she "makes allegations"... Got a big kiss from an old man... Anyhow - they all seemed to have a good time dancing and clapping to my ancient jazz & hippy songs...and me stumbling thru Jingle Bells...

As I was leaving one of the African careworkers asked me where I worshipped - not a question I'm usually asked after a jazz gig...
