unclechristo: (theremin - in the zone)

Memory Wire had our first gig out of town in Stramford at a chillout night. On first were Mandrake - an excellent medival duo with shawms, bagpipes and a gemshorn etc. Then there was Loop Cycle  - a master guitar looper. Then us. we played outr longest live gig to date. Musicwise it all went well. I thought we'd be more ambient but excitement took over and we threw in the kitchen sink. i particularly enjoyed getting some screaming ringmod filtered theremin moments. :-)

see more photos of the gig here

Just heard the sad news of a hero of mine - eccentric improvising musician Hans Reichel - inventor and player of strange multi bridged and multi-necked guitars and of the curious bowed piece of wood the Daxophone. He also designed fonts.
I was lucky enough to see him play in Leicester at a club called The Cooler - he brough a wonderful multi-bridged guitar covered in switches with a mechanical canary attatched to the end. I had a chat with him afterwards. I remember he complained there wasn't much work in Germany for German musicians - they only wanted Americans - i mentioned I was American - he said dryly "Put it about."
He has an amzing strange animated website http://www.daxo.de/

I love this guitar piece of his on his pluck -behind-the-bridge guitar
