Cinema Delux Derby solo gig

Cinema Delux solo songs gig was in the restaurant - quite a workout which I needed really - 2 x 1 hour sessions - I did mostly my own songs which was good for morale. Mostly ignored as it was busy but there were listeners and the occasional applause. In the second set one couple stayed especially to hear me til the end which was nice.
i was  abit winded after the first set but felt better after the second set. Certainly beena  while since I did a solo full set.

Songs

I;ve been out of the songs head for a while but just lately I have been writing new ones - bit rusty so they are needing some tweaking. This morning I woke at 6am and 3 verses popped out to a song which I;d only had a chorus for at least a year.

Another strange thing has been sorting through the file of old lyrics I found a while back - I think they are from around 1994-5-ish eng of The Storm thieves - start of The Talking Fish era. Weird. I wrote loads of songs then - more than either band could take - some I still remember the music - others not.. My influences I had then in each song are much more transparent. Quite  afew hopeless relationship songs, quite a few green saving the planet songs. A lot of the lyrics are kinda cleverer wordwise than I am now. I was TOTALLY into the world of songs then. Less so now. There are several pretty good songs - interesting to asses them next to new ones I;m gathering. Interestingly one song I no longer remember the music to has similar ideas to the a song I have music for now but only a few lines - and the lines fit with some tweaking so that's handy. Between the old and new there are already way too many for an album. I guess I need to assemble a list and see what there is. Still going thru the old lyric file at the moment - and finishing new songs.
Also instrumental pieces on the piano I wrote way backj then are coming back to me - donlt know what to do with them - very Azimuth/John Taylor influenced.
I might just start recording this week as there are no gigs...
