Last 4 gigs before xmas.

Looking Glass
I did a 30min slot at The Looking Glass bar in Leicester which I thoguht was going to be a bit noisy and rough but when I started to sing everyone went nicely quiet - so much so I sang my new balladish song and Forget About You which I always have to be ina fairly mellow mood to play. Very cols and not many floorsingers - the other geust slot was duo Evangeline which I remember from the Windsor Suite 15 years ago!

Govannen xmas bash at Kirby Twins Club.
Amazingly despite arctic weather the Kirby Twins Acoustic Club annualGovannen xmas gig was packed. Imagine all those folks coming to a village hall to see us and our chums When Cousins Marry (Dan & Neil are in both bands). We did quite a lite jolly singalong set this year. Nice to see so many good chums there.

Quadelectronic 31
An xmas QE extravaganza meant that some folks brought mince pies and corn chips and I wore a jolly hat. 2 of our regulars - the Freeman brothers who have never missed a QE were poorly and missed their first ever. We also had some a couple of new players including Willow who i hadn;lt seen in 10 years. I wanted a change so decided to take fewer effects and take my piano, theremin and mic & harmonizer/delay - concentrate on being a pianist and a thereminist. The result was quite a free-jazzy kind of night but a good one - we had violin, cello, an O-bow (his own invention), a circuit bender, plus several keyboardists and laptopists. The last improv of the night was a quintet and at the very end I couldn't resist playing tidings of Comfort and Joy which some joined in and was quite haunting. see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiP8ZlXwyvE

Pontefinos
Final gig before xmas was Pontefinos restaurant playing a solo jazz gig - my recently broken amp which was fixed survived OK which was nice, and it was nice to earn some money b4 xmas and play some jazz.

Xmas

A nice quiet xmas - reading, a little walk thru the snow, sleeping, reading - G cooked a nice but not overlarge meal and I had just one small sherry - I watched Waiting For Guffman on DVD which was a little disappointing, and worked on a CD accounting spreadsheet later that night. I got some great presents of books and Cds - including the recent Steve Kuhn (Mostly Coltrane) and a Toru Takemitsu (Corona)i used to have on LP 10+_ years ago and hadn't heard since.

Boxing Day I tidied up the Loft a bit - mostly paperwork and sorting thru boxes of leads, but all good. Had a nice vegetarian haggis for dinner, watched Top Gear and am back doing webby things tonight.
Best Christmas in ages. :-)
