gig cancelled at last minute

Dan had to cancel gig at Criterion in evening as he was very poorly. I decided to do it as duo with Neil the Cajon drum. Practised in the afternoon and everything. BUT - I;d been having bad stomcah pains/cramps on and off the last few days - saw a doc who gave me pills. Suddenly on way to the gig I didnlt feel so good. Carried kit in to Criterion hoping to shake it off but just felt weird and pains not good.
Then I remembered to listeb to that voice - never TRY and get thru a gig if youre poorly - you'll just set yourself up for a fail. So embarrassingly cancelled and carried stuff back out. Russ at the Criterion was nice about it as was Neil but I felt really bad about cancelling - knew some folks were making special trip in the cold to see me. Apologies to all those who came. One regular attendee even bought a CD from me bless him.
Got home and tho hating having cancelled - plus coulda done with the money with broken car and amp and recent house expenses - realised it had been the right decision as pains/cramps just carried on and did not lift.
Saturday
Next day had really quiet day - G was at choir all day and I just took things slow - read a lot, took pills, managed a walk and slowly felt better as day went on. Even looked over some new songs. Cooked a nice veg & lentil stew in evening and watched a Deep Space 9.
Sunday
A bit more delicate again but was able to do some things OK - just very tired. Will take things slowly this week - hopefully car will be fixed on Monday and amp will go to Malc the Fixer and hopefully things will return to normal this week - apart from the weather which is set to be arctic sub-zero all week...
