Liverpool - catchup
Oct. 25th, 2010 08:41 pmWent to Liverpool at the weekend for Gs niece's 21st - nice hotel on the Albert Dock and went for nice meal with young'uns. I asked one of Gs nieces what music they were into. One replied "I;m kinda mainstream R&B but the others are all dubstep" - I felt about 90.
I was feelina bit rough on Sunday so i hung around the hotel while G explored. We did go and see Anthiony Gormely's Another Place, in Crosby - 100 metal lifesize men on the beach facing out to sea.
Finished Jack McDevitt book The Devil's Eye - nice to be back with familiar characters and universe but it felt a bit like he dashed it off. Certainly not one of his best but it was easy reading - am trying now John Barnes One Million Open Doors but I;m not certain about it yet.
The replacement lounge floor is not yet finished - the wiondows are mostly done but we're still camping loungeless.
I;ve been slowly adding piano improvisations to what I hope will be an album of them - hear them here http://soundcloud.com/unclechristo/sets/piano-improvisations
The new Markus Stockhausen band Eternal Voyage Cd came - nice - world music jazz - Arabic singer, Indian flutist then trumpet, piano, clarinet and drums. Piano player might be a find - drumer was wild. Quite mellow tho - almost in Paul Winter territory. Also got another Joanie Sommers jazz singer album which was better than i thought - I;m getting near the last of those easily available.
Talking of drummers - This drummer made me laugh today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItZyaOlrb7E
