Strange little day
Apr. 3rd, 2009 12:53 amWrote and sent my e-newsletter, did some web ammendments, and did some gig date sorting. Then I felt kinda tired and felt the need to get out. Hit town and got some 2ndhand dvds, and then decided to bite the bullet and order my new synth - should come next week.
In the evening I cooked a rather good veg bolognese and watched the last of my Marlene Dietrich DVD box set - Billy Wilder's A Foreign Affair 1948 - fascinating having been filmed in bombed out Berlin - great atmosphere, script and plot plus had the huge bonus for me of featuring one of my fave actresses - Jean Arthur. Arthur used to have confidence problems and Billy Wilder said famously of his difficulties with Jean Arthur & Marlene Dietrich in the film. "I have one dame who's afraid to look at herself in a mirror and another who won't stop looking!"

Later on I went to the Freestyle at the Mobius to get acclimitized as I am there in 2 weeks, plus to see Geoff Overon who was feature spot this week. Twas thin on the ground - I got up and did a little scat in the open mic jam and chatted to some good old boys.
