last Phoenix Foyer Folk concert
Mar. 1st, 2009 01:17 pmWell I wanted a mellow solo songs gig and that's what i got - good sized mellow crowd. I took no keyboard or theremin - just guitar and new baby guitar and I rang the changes on my 20 Years In Showbusiness set, adding 2 revived songs I've not played live for many years - Make It Real (from 96's Flying Home), and Before I Go (from 00's Earth Rising).
I was so glad to have a voice after my slight brush with the lurgy - I was a bit tired tho, especially after previous night's gig so I was getting a bit sleepy. It was poignant, though it eing my last foyer folk gig at the Phenix Arts Centre before it closes in the summer (I do have an electronic gig and possibly a jazz piano party there). For nearly so many years it has been the big showcase folk gig in town with it getting in the Phoenix program and the paper. I will miss it.After the gig I went to the big music store in town (Reverb) and found it almost empty - looks on it's way out...
In the evening watched Father Goose (1964 Cary Grant, Leslie Caron) - a melow slow rainy Sunday afternoon kind of film which suited knackered me and oorly G well. After that the TV was showing Hitchocock's Rebecca (1940 Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine) which I;v seen a million times (exactly) but always get pulled in. Then oddly - last night I dreamed I went to Mandalay again...
