Noel Arms, Melton Mowbray
Jan. 26th, 2009 12:02 pmSaturday - chilled nicely - went to see chums band Woodstock - perfect covers of Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and more - shame Liz had a bad lurgy but she still sounded great. Nice to have catchup with old chum Kate between sets.
Then went to town to replace dying phone - what a pallava - I went for a simple one like my old one - it took ages and forms and all kinds of fiddling about and secret codes to get it to stop doing stuff I don't want - and I still can't get it to read my emails despite 30mins walkthru with 02 on the phone (they gave up).
Sunday I did chores and chilled then had big 50th birthday party in Melton with Govannen plus Neil the Bass. Quite jolly actually. Kind of reserved crowd in the 1st half - then unexpectedly all got up and madly danced in the 2nd half.
Came home and was doing abit ona recording last thing when oddly the sound went weird. Oddly the more centrally a track was panned, the more distant and reverby it got - I thought it was the soundcard mixer or something in Cubase - eventually traced things to my real mixer - EVENTUALLY discovered a "voice canceller" button which is for karaoking any CD - it takes the voice int he middle out! Must;ve hit it by accident! Doh!
Today - back in the studio - more pagan chanting - got a yummy Lorraine Bowen Experience album "Bossy Nova" - I've got them all now - perfect antedote to the January blues. Top tracks so far are "Swindon" and "Pavarotti Can't Read Music". She is fab.
