unclechristo: (theremin action)
The EQ Festival brought quite a few old hippies out of the woodwork that I hadn;t seen for a while. The slot with Roger went as fine as it coulda gone, tho I had to wing 3 of his new songs. We hadn't played as aduo for years - our heyday was 10 years ago when we did about 6 tours of Germany) so it was nostalgic to do so again.

Shapeshifter was wild as ever with self guesting on theremin. Maureen on poetry/freeform flute & trumpet, Dave the Guitar, Rizzla the Bass, Dave the Drums and Big Nick visuals in bizarre costumes - giant fish/Elvis-gone-wrong mask/ Devil mask/ in pink pantaloons with teddybear in chains etc, and Sue the Bellydancer, sometimes with wings, fishnets and a silver walking stick she used to fight the evil Big Nick. We also had someone doing 60s style psychedelic liquid/oil lightshow projection (I always wanted to play in front of one of those a la Jefferson Airplane). I only took the 1 effect so my pallette was limited but it was fine for the 45min set. Wild. Photos anon but here is one of us at an old gig to give the idea.

recent studio recordings I made with them can be heard here (Phoenix & Tibetan Book of the Dead)

I'm also on an old live recording - (Alien Fish)

These youtubes (at a gig without me) gives the unique flavour of a Shapeshifter gig.

4 hours of standing, 2 sets with different kit and a 12.30am finish means I;m a bit tired today so am chillng before the Govannen gig in Rutland tonight.
