thinkin about the folks - cinema softy
Jun. 3rd, 2008 12:10 amI forgot - G & I walked round the botanical gardens in the rain.
My family have been planning a big gathering of the international clan of Conways to commemorate my mom & dad. It'll be in August in Cambridge and folks are coming from all over - Canada, Australia, Spain - I don't think the Zimbabweans can make it but some Zimbi expats will.
We brothers and sisters have been reminding ourselves of phrases our folks used to say a lot. It's funny the things you remember - and also alarming how few things one can remember. I guess it's coz one's thinking too hard about remembering things - like when someone asks you for a joke and all jokes vanish one's mind. Got me a little wistful and a bit sad thinking about these little everyday things I used to hear them say. Mind you I just realised we just passed the anniversary of dads passing.
Well - it's either that or watching the end of that soppy film Geordie.
It doesn't take much sentiment to set me off watching a movie. Big Fish and Awakenings were 2 films I was in complete floods with and felt quite ill afterwards. I dare not watch them again.
Tarkovsky can set me off too - Nostalghia was the last film that really got to me like that. His films usually haunt me for weeks anyhow.
