recording / new boring tech
Mar. 18th, 2008 09:26 pmYesterday i recorded some low whistle on the Fire piece and did a couple of mixes - I think it;s done. I was still tired from the weekend and kinda ground to a halt - well i wish i had but I just kept tinkering on. IN evening set up the new home hub from BT - the faster service (I have been entitled to all along but never asked for as I was on an ancient billing system) came online - the hub replaced the ancient broadband modem and was done with soem help from the Vizier but it was quite painless. It has speeded up the web by 8 times, the V says.
Today was one of those growing headache days - however I managed to install a new external hard drive and copy 80gig to it - which took a while. I did also manage to set up my theremin & headset mic and effects and had a little experiment with the Moogerfooger Murf which gave me an idea for the next piece to record, Water.

Still trying to decide laptops and sway from fun bells & whistles versus sturdy but dull. I;ve resigned myself to the fact that i can't be bothered with firewire recording so the whole rigmarole about finding a laptop with a firewire chipset that is made by TI no longer worth persueing. Its between 3 - Acer 6492, Lenovo R61i, Sony Vaio BX51XP - all with xp. All have nerdy pros & cons. I'm sterring towards Lenovos sturdyness coz I know what I'm like with kit.
News from Fandango tonight is that he has made a little improvement but he's still on a ventilator - they are thinking of bringing him round tomorrow.
