I finally got to a point yesterday when I figured the album was done - a wrapped it up and posted it to the label - they'll probably have their say on it but the technical side of recording is I think over. Current working title is Songs for Dreamers - mastering, liner notes, graphics and cover art stages yet to come nad hopefully not involving me too much.

So now as usually happens after a finishing a recording I look around me to see that the place is i tip and that I have a long list of domestic and routine chores to do. eg need new strings for my acoustic guitar.

Last night to change my head I went down to the acoustic club at the Musician as Neil the Bass said he was going to eb there. i didnlt play but chatted a bit - in fact 3 of us ended up jamming jazz on guitars.

I sold a Dave Kirk Mayfly CD online.

Chocolate Bossa is now out on CDBaby for purchase and download - iTunes to follow in a few weeks.

Been looking into downloads etc - interesting stuff.

CDBaby altho they distribute to nearly 60 companies printed a list of the top providers  - out of their $21,000,000 of sales - iTunes have a massive 83% of sales - with only 6 other companies above 1%, and 31 companies making almost no sales at all.

I noted from my Musician Union manual this year that overall sales of singles has doubled in the 2 years 2004-2006 - because of downloads - the whole thing about downloads killing sales like EMI were spouting today is obviously a myth.

2004    single sales 32.3million (physical 26.5m downloads 5.8m)
2005    single sales 47.9million (physical 21.4m ; downloads 26.5m)
2006    single sales 66.9million (physical 13.9m ; downloads 53m)
