Sep. 26th, 2002 02:07 pmMy cold returned yesterday and turned into a bit of a streamer. Shame thought I'd shaken it off.
My day had little of note - an ebay CD win - Jesse Colin Young - Sweetwater came which was fine. Good old Jesse.
Finished Krono by Charles Harness - my last unread Harness novel - sob!! :-(
Went to the doctors to get some more magic pills - he seemed to've forgotten why I was taking them...hmmnn...
Fed Ellie's cats.
Helped some elderly neighbours - one of which I don't think is long for this world - very frail.
Did a bottlebank run and went to posh supermarket for more cordials - I'm hooked - and pretzels - even more so.
Then off to the gig in Newarke - about 50km from here. Nice pub by the canal - we (me & Dan) played up against a big window facing the water. We ate in an old fashioned English cafe which was very eccentric. - mostly in the table mats which had lots of personal-type spiel about the owners and Newarke Castle and the cafe.
The first half of the gig was deeply unispiring - pub audience mostly not listening - no applause - quite a contrast to our last outing at the arts centre in Stamford. My cold didn't help - I resisted taking a Sudafed (decongestant) even tho the side-efects are heavenly - they make me feel soooo happy)
In the 2nd half strangely a group of alarmingly model-like women (apparently friends of the boss and Very posh when I spoke to them later) got up and danced whilst I was singing Unchain My Heart. So we were locked into dance mode for a while. Then they sat and we finished off with some art - bodhran and twin whistles - then went into City Breakdown unexpectedly which got very big.
Then an unsmiling Nowegian came up to buy 3 CDs - one for him and 2 for his unsmiling friends.
One if the model-like women said as I passed by in a very posh accent - "Hello, honey - you know you were actually very good!"
Day of rest today - needed - tho I need to do some brainstorming on the Korg for tomorrow's recording with Llewellyn.
