back and fifth
Sep. 4th, 2002 11:34 pmAll went to plan...
Went to moms, saw sister Clare and nephews Chris and Mario, had dinner with Ma, brother Jules, and his wife Mercedes.
Took Jules back to Leicester, we downed a quick beer on our return and spun some CDs and DVD snippets - especially the Alan Stivell DVD. He gave me the new Stivell CD Beyond Words - haven't had time to hear it yet.
Tuesday we did the usual, - Indian CD shop (I bought the new Kishori Amonkar double CD Live - YAY!!!- I was at the concert it was recorded at!!! It is fab - she is such an inspiration.
Jules bought some Krishna bhajans by Shruti Katkar.
We then had a thali and masala dosa at Sayonara - my fave indian restaurant. I was feeling very tired and twitchy - the food helped.
We then dropped in on the Ultima Thule shop (progressive and electronic CD shop) - Jules bought the new Embryo Live CD.
Dropped in on Dan at the Sheehans gutar shop where he works to hear the gossip about how his German trip went with Neil and Steve - well by all accounts.
Then we called in on Ellie & Eve on the way home.
Then we spun a few of our new toys, had some salad stuff from the Greek place and we watched the Clara Rockmore and Lydia Kavina theremin videos and I showed him my theremin too after dinner.
We then spun CDs til the wee hours. From Philly soul to Stockhausen and beyond.
Funny - Juels thought the new Embryo was crap, then by the end of the night we heard it agaion and it sounded great. Perhaps the efrfect of the Stockhasen - or maybe tyhe sound of my new albums I showed him highlights of.
He left b4 I awoke this a.m. - which meant I could get on with ongoing stuff BUT!!!...got a email from the CD manufacturers who said I had to redesign and resubmit one of my CDs onbody designs. I did this.
TYhey then said they'd either simplify the onbody design or I would have to pay £160 +vat for full colour onbody. I said "Simplify Simplify! - I really dont care that much what the CD itself looks like so long as its legible and OK" - the man laughed and said he wished everyone had that attitude :)
THEN!!! My ansafone broke - so if you left me a message in the past few days I wont've heard it. Which meant I had to get a new phone/ansafone. Went to Argos in town and what a pallaver - too much choice - got a twin cordless handsets, with ansafone. Took me ages to sort out the best deal - by the time i got back it was time to bolt some food down and go and play at the Mexican Restaurant in Loughborough with Andy the sax.
Just got home and phew!!!! I feel I can land now!!!
Still need to...
- make posters and press release for gig with Judith in London
- likewise for album launches
- design blurb and postcards and arrange for their printing.
- revise for the Llewellyn & Juliana gig at the new age bash
- sleep
