The jazz duo gig at Leicester University was a little unusual - it was a small staff party of 40 or so held in the corner of a huge marquee set up for graduation ceremony that holds 500-600.

Was supposed to play piano at a party for DeMontfort University but the rain started and I got the call it was cancelled from my agent and he said I would get paid anyway. Result :-)

So my plan was to record a solo piano album last night - and I did - 1 hour - all one piece - more sparse and atonal than my last piano album Outside In which was a daytime album. This was recorded around midnight under a full moon with 3 candles and a little singing bowl to add a sense of ritual. I took some cool night sky photos too for possible cover art.

Tonight's Govannen gig was a lively birthday party - we did an early Irish set and then a uptempo rocknroll & reels 2nd set which we haven't done in a while. Thus ends another 3 gig weekend. Whoosh!

Played a 30min set at AshFest at Ashfield Academy where Dan works - Sally Barker and Dave Wyatt were there too. nice jolly atmosphere and the kids loved it.

In the evening we played at The White Lion in  Whissendine - there was a food festival and a fun run on so the whole village was buzzing. We played in marquee -  not so much a concert as playing in a garden event while people drift about so we could depart a bit from the usual set including a stratospheric version of Hey Joe.

The jazz duo gig was blessed by a great appreciative audience. Alas on hot nights the windows/walls are opened, adding an accompaniment of street sounds, police sirens etc and the odd waft of weed smoke from passersby. We got the giggles when a LOUD motorbike roared past just as I was about to start singing "Quiet Nights...".:-)

Govannen's Tea With A Twist concert at Launde Abbey was pretty epic - a fab crowd. I just could've done with a bit less sun. But hey we sold 20CDs! Which pays for a new run of Endless Road CDs which just ran out.G's folks, niece and partner, and Dan & Neil''s family were there.

The wedding ceilidh gig was a 3hrs driving/ 2hrs waiting/90mins playing kinda thing, but nice people and a picturesque setting.

Gig at The Wheel at Branston was going to be outside but due to the weather it was inside so became a small-pub gig which got quite lively in the 2nd set when the dancing banshees came out of nowhere...

We made nothing of it but Quadelectronic 109 tonight was our 9th anniversary! -and it was good! Just 7 of us incl. a new player who said at the end that it was the first time they' played live with anyone. :-) I'm glad I took the piano. :-) Wow 9 years! What a strange trip it's been...

Jolly Govannen gig as usual at Owthorpe with over 100 folks there for the meal and concert in the marquee. The village hall itself is a relocated WW2 former prisoner of war dormitory that I always have to take a photo of...

Wedding gig in the marquee went nicely. The groom turned out to be a fan, and had been to see us 5 times before. :-)

Drive was 1hr 15 each way.

Played at lovely family birthday do for chum Martha Bean's mom in a pretty Sileby church hall. Some very orderly dancing too.

One of those very hot humid nights so we just played mosly ballads and laid back bossas. Some chums came to see us which was nice. :-)

Fun was had at jazz duo gig at Fingerprints for ArtBeat with sax player Andy Nicholls. Thanks to the lovely crowd who came to see us. Cool thing was for the first time we played improvisations live like on the album - 4 of them! And a Japanese lass was impressed by me Perfume T-Shirt :-)

We've played at some pretty big barn dances but last night's barn in Caldecott was HUGE!
We played on the top of a trailer. Some chums including old chum from college days Colin Hyde were in another band playing after us.

Baluji & Lindaji from Jazz Orient/Re-Orient came to visit as Balu had an award ceremony in Leicester. We hadnt seen eachother since a concert in Camden Town London 3 years ago! - I took them to the Chaat House on the Golden Mile for lunch, and they went out in the evening and left next noon but it was lovelt to see them again.
