Since Hands Off I hav ebeen catching up with stuff, finishing the Re-Orient album off again - just some remastering - we're still stuck for an album title...
4th Aug
Had to help Paddy who was concreting the shed floor which meat many trip to the tip and trips to buy cement as he has no car. In all the confusion I FORGOT I had a gig at Pontefino's - solo piano. Many embarrassed phone calls to venue and agent - felt such a nitwit...
Sat 6th
2 Govannen gigs set me right - one in the afternoon was to some VW camper van enthusiasts - nice laid back affair in Long Clawson. Then a wedding in the evening for a musician friend of ours in Burton Overy that hit the spot.
Sun 7th
Jazz trio gig with Andy the Sax & Andy the Guitar in Rothley Cricket Club - in a gazebo just outside the pavilion - was great - saw an old chum from Hamilton College/Syston Amatuer operatics musical days - yup great - until the heavens opened and a huge thunder storm led to much hastily packing of slightly soggy kit...
Mon 8th
G had gone to Budapest for a week with a choir. I played a 30min set backing Bridget McMahon who was over from Ireland - Despite recording 2 albums we still hadn't played as a duo live - despite her hoarse voice it went fine as we jammed through traditional Irish tunes.
Tue 9th
Played a 20min set at the Phoenix Square as part of the Leicester Fringe organised by Leicester Live - Large and very quiet crowd in the cafe - I played Proud Of You, Lifespell, Help Me(piano), Bobby Caseys(low whistle). I had to leave early as I;d left my phone at home and hadn;t been in touch with G in Hungary - was going to go back but couldn't because of the Leicester riots..
mostly worked on my accounts by day - always strangely theraputic
Sat 13th
Played a solo jazz set at The Veranda Cafe-Bar in Wing village - kindof a camping site attatched to a house/restaurant - nice mellow gig...
Lots of things to wrap up - Re-Orient album, theremin album,m accounts etc...
