Chris Conway Quintet reunion

My jazz quintet had it;s first gig in 3 years at Harborough Jazz at The Angel Hotel in Market Harborough. Bassman Neil Segrott got us the gig by just walking in last year and asking for one. I was up late making setlists and chord sheets. To be honest the set hadn't changed really - just one or 2 new ones from the set I have with saxman Andy Nicholls. A pretty safe set of standards plus a couple of mine.

It was strange playing in a jazz band again - with drums (Paul Whistler) and I am SOOO used to playing bass with my lefty hand I had to think hard what to do with it now there was a real bass player. Andy Hagiioannu was lively on the guitar. We weren't loud but it was strange for me to get used to the level of sound and number of things going on. A good crowd which was a surprise as it was Easter Sunday. I took my small theremin for some comedy value and even played a couple of solos including a fun one on I Put A Spell On You. It all seemed to go well and management gave us some extra money which was nice - 2nd time that has happened in 1 week... Sold 1 Breathtaking CD.  Here are some photos

Lunchtime gigs always take the whole day - had to leave at 10am so I'm up at 9am. Got home and unpacked by 5pm needing a nap. Then dinner then the days almost done.

This ends a pretty busy spell - no gigs til Thursday now...
