Aug. 17th, 2004 01:51 amodd day - up early with rat drain team
good news - we found with smoke test the drain that has hole into living room where they are getting in
bad news - it's on my side rather than Severn Trent Water Authority
good news - as it's on my side I can move soon to get builder to fix it
bad news - it'll cost me
I await contact names of suitable builders from pal Pete.
Rest of the day was spent on the phone, business and some pleasure. Got call from Brazilian percussionist Renato who I haven't seen in years - he's in Brum for a week. Hope I cans see him - it's looking tight this week tho. Sabri the Tabla rang too.
Had complex chat with solicitor about new age recording contract - very complex and detailed and indicated things I should definitely change. When i spoke to big new age bossman I found that nothing was really available for discussion and the deal on the contract is a take-it-or-leave-it thing... - oh well I know more about publishing and contracts now, and a bit more about the real world too...Its still a better deal than I'd get from the big company.
Oh and i got a mention in the Guardian newspaper - my Orkney friends mentioned me when interiewed in Edinburgh - funny
"I get talking to the Humphreys family from Orkney. Jon & Kate are there with their children... They've seen a show by Chris Conway. "And we saw people in bikinis!" yells Euan, six, with great excitement. "We don't get a lot of that in Orkney" explains Jon.
Started recording in evening "Monkeys On The Moon" for the monkeyworld chairty CD. Went for drive with S and later saw Lexx on tv - the worst episode in the worst series...isn't it always the way?
